Snow day!

The kids have been wanting to see snow for the first time and it just never seems to snow near us on a good day. But, they were in luck! It snowed yesterday and we are free today. It actually even hailed enough at our house to look like snow on the ground yesterday!

Local snow is about 30 minutes from our house and the kids had a blast. Faithie wasn't too sure at first, but she warmed up to it eventually. They were wet and cold by the end but really enjoyed the day.

BIRTHDAY BOY

Justin is 9. He had a slumber party with 3 of his friends. It was noisy and loud, but they all had fun.

Happy New Year.

Ok, I'll try to keep this updated.

Justin's almost 9 years old. We just finished up soccer a few weeks ago and we're all a bit happy to have Saturdays free again. He enjoys playing piano and is still trying to figure out what activity he'll do in the new year.

Paige is 7.5 and a busy social girl. She enjoyed soccer this year and really just likes to be with her friends. She recently started piano too and enjoys it.

Faithie Anne is our noisy tornado who makes sure we're always alert. She's quite happy with life and if she's not, the whole world will know it. She's going to start dance class in January and is very excited.

Some pictures from the past month.

Sometimes it's a lot of work to get a picture of all 3 of them together. This night Paige didn't feel like cooperating and Faithie was being goofy.

June is here.

Hard to believe that it's almost summer.

Faithie is finished with speech class for the year. One more week of preschool. The big kids have 2 more weeks of school.

Justin is finished with baseball. Despite complaining when getting ready, he really had a good time. His team won 1st place.

We got to take a day off from school and work and went to Legoland for one last time. No crowds this time but they definately closed too early (5pm). It was was nice day.

The weekend has been a busy one. Legoland on Friday. Saturday was full of baseball fun (closing day ceremony and end of the year party) and mommy got to wait in line to sign up for soccer (over an hour). Today, Sunday, we have church in the morning and then a church pool party in the afternoon.
May was a busy month.

Paige had a bunch of Girl Scout events and had her first encampment. She had lots of fun.

Justin had a Cub Scout end of the year camping trip.

All 3 kids did swim class and are getting ready for their summer vaccation.

May is here!

May 3rd is our anniversary and we had a family day in celebration. Church in the morning, then lunch. A little time at home and then we went to Balboa park to play with Frisbees and play on the playground. We went to the downtown library and hung out in the huge children's section for a bit and then came home. A full day!

End of April.

The end of April was busy around here. Justin still has baseball games and practice 3 days a week. Paige does gymnastics once a week. Play and just everyday life too.

Paige's Brownie trip has something almost every weekend for the next few weeks. They went to a puppet show in Balboa park (Faithie got to join them) and then the 3 of us walked around for alittle bit. Then we went to Justin's baseball game and had an early dinner together.

Justin's class had a field trip to Torrey Pines park on the 30th. A lovely place but it was hot. We did a little hike with a guide and then the kids got to play on the beach for a little bit after lunch.

Is it summer?

Who would have believed we were bundling up just 2 days ago!?

It's HOT here today- in the low 90s. The kids are convinced every time it's above 80, that it's swimming weather. So, we gave in today and let them go swimming. The water was cool but they didn't seem to care too much.

We went to church in the morning and the kids were asking about swimming before we even started getting dressed this morning. After church, first thing they asked in the car was if they could go swimming... So, we made a yummy "summer" lunch of hamburgers/turkey burgers, baked beans, and macaroni salad and then got ready. Swim suits on and sunblock on.

Paige fell yesterday walking the dog and got a big scrape on her back (and a few mini ones in other places). She says it doesn't hurt too much, unless you touch it.

POOL TIME! Luckily we got new goggles for the big kids last week.

Even Kipper got into the fun of things. The kids had excluded him for the first half hour but the dog was having a very hard time being left out. So, eventually, they gave in and let him swim with them.

ZOO DAY!

Today we went to the zoo as a family. We rejoined as members and will go some more. The kids had fun and it was nice and relaxing to take a casual (not hurried) walk and to look at all the animals.

We had been told that the zoo didn't allow packed lunches anymore, but we saw no signs mentioning this and it wasn't on their site. We had no issues once there.

Faith really liked all the monkeys. Everyone watched them for a long time.

The petting zoo. Faith was really liking the goats... then one pooped right in front of her. I wasn't able to catch her expression on camera but it was great. Like Justin, she kept trying to feed them.

At the end of a good 5 hours at the zoo, everyone was tired and ready to go home. We made a quick stop by the snakes and then we were on our way.
